The Exercise Factor

No matter what anyone says about what diet works and what doesn’t, there are two things that everyone seems to agree on; eating fruits and vegetables and exercising will get your weight down and help your overall health. Just like the diet, the type of exercise you do is a personal choice and while some will join a gym and hire a trainer, others need to find a way to do something at home. I decided to stay at home and put myself on an exercise plan anyone can do.

We bought a WII and WII Fit with our Christmas money from family last year and I used it off and on for a couple of months to try it out. Then one day walking through one of those big warehouse stores I saw the Active Personal Trainer for the WII and bought it. I have been using it off and on since. However, now I am using it as it is supposed to be used on the 30 day workout plans.

Basically, you do two days of workouts and rest every third day. The workouts take less than 30 minutes (until you get to the last level and they are about 35 to 40 minutes) so it doesn’t take you all day to do them and you can jump in the shower whenever you are through any time of the day or night. The best thing about this particular workout is the variety.

On the third day, when I am resting from the Active workouts, I turn on the WII Fit 1 or 2 and do about 15 minutes of fun cardio stuff to just move a bit that day. I will also let you know that stretching is very important in the morning before you ever really get going out of bed. I do a series of back exercises that get me loose and then get my workout done for the day first thing. This is my current preference and I might change it up as I go but it’s working for now. My only complaint about the program is it sometimes does not respond so you do have to make sure the controllers can be seen by the receiver.

I don’t have any other experience right now with any other exercise program for the WII or for any of the other games. I have seen the Biggest Looser for the WII and would that one is good as well. I plan on trying it down the road and will let you know hat I think.

The main thing I am doing is making sure I move every day and this has worked better for me than most things. I will say that when I am motivated, I tend to get it done but I know others that really need someone to help them. In those cases I would think a gym and trainer would be the best thing, if they can afford it.
